Holiday
There are so many things to do when you are on holiday at such a central location that it would be impossible to name them all here. Apart from the activities listed on the page 'Relax' such as fishing, horse-riding, walking, wildlife watching and so forth, you will discover there are also a lot of other things for the whole family to enjoy, especially if you have a car.
National Museum of Flight
The National Museum of Flight is between East Fortune and North Berwick, just forty minutes up the road towards Edinburgh.
The last Concorde to fly was dissassembled and reassembled right here where you can now go for the Concorde Experience.
East Links
East Links Family Park is really a day out for the whole family too. Set aside a lot of time because it'll bring out the child in everyone. With lots of animals to feed, trains to ride and buggies to race, there won't be much time left for lunch.
Park a little further on from East Links Family Park and you'll be on another natural coast walk too. And not to distract dad, but the East Links golf course at North Berwick has a glorious sea view right next to it.
Scottish Seabird Centre
In the same area, North Berwick's Seabird Centre has been described as "one of the wildlife wonders of the world" by Sir David Attenborough. While at the centre you can not only learn about british coastal birds but also watch them across the sea in their native habitat of Bass Rock island through the best located camera's and telescopes in the world.
Edinburgh Castle
Edinburgh has so many sites and attractions to see and visit, but with this city being just an hour away from the cottage door, a visit to the castle is surely a must. Be there before one o'clock and watch them fire the cannon.
Deep Sea World
Furthest away on the recommended visits for the family is this place, Deep Sea World. It would probably take about an hour and a half to get to and is on the north side of the Forth river.
The trip itself is probably worthwhile and crossing the bridges an adventure in itself. Deep Sea World has dolphins, sharks, touch and feel aquariums with starfish and much more.
Chain Bridge Honey Farm
Much closer to home, in fact not more than 10 miles away from the cottage, is this
honey farm. Here you can see
living beehive's, sample honey, visit their exhibition and more. Entrance is free and is sure to please.
Other attractions in the Borders
As mentioned already, there are just too many things to do. Listed below is a handful of just a few more essential places to visit. Please note, these are all within the borders and as such are not more than an hour away by car.
